United Way of Winneshiek County Reaches Halfway Point in Annual Campaign

DECORAH — United Way of Winneshiek County has raised $50,000 toward its $100,000 goal for the 2026 annual campaign, with organizers urging residents, businesses and community partners across northeast Iowa to help close the gap before the June 30 deadline. Campaign leaders said the first half of the fundraising goal reflects strong early support from community donors. The remaining funds, however, are needed to continue supporting 19 local partner agencies serving families, children, seniors and individuals throughout the region. According to the organization, 34% of households in Winneshiek County fall into the ALICE category, Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, meaning they are working but still struggling to afford basic necessities. Another 9% of residents live below the poverty line. Funds raised through the campaign support programs including food assistance through the Northeast Iowa Food Bank, crisis services for survivors of domestic violence through Riverview Center, youth mentoring programs through 4-H and Girl Scouts, and services for seniors and individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs. "We are deeply grateful for every gift received so far, but we are only halfway home," said United Way President Christopher Miculinich. "The families served by our partner agencies are counting on this community to come together for the final push. Every contribution, at every level, matters. Now is the time." Community members can donate online through United Way of Winneshiek County, mail contributions to United Way of Winneshiek County, P.O. Box 165, Decorah, IA 52101, or participate through workplace giving programs, fundraising events or community donation drives. Organizers said every donation helps sustain programs that provide food security, child care, crisis intervention and community support services throughout the county. The campaign concludes June 30.
