Annual Pulpit to Pulpit 5K to Benefit NEICAC, Kids Lunch Club

DECORAH — The annual Pulpit to Pulpit 5K and 1-mile fun run/walk will return Saturday, July 4, bringing runners, walkers, families and dogs together for a morning of fitness and fundraising. Hosted by Pulpit Rock Brewing Co., the event begins at 8 a.m. and includes a timed 5K race and a non-timed 1-mile fun run/walk. Both events start and finish at the brewery. Proceeds from this year's race will benefit Northeast Iowa Community Action Corp. (NEICAC) and Kids Lunch Club. NEICAC provides programs and services that support families and individuals throughout northeast Iowa, while Kids Lunch Club helps ensure local children have access to nutritious meals during the summer. Decorah native and former NFL linebacker Josey Jewell will help kick off the event. Music and entertainment will follow on the patio at Pulpit Rock Brewing. "Pulpit to Pulpit has become such a meaningful community tradition," race organizer Steph Hughes said. "Every year we see people of all ages come together to celebrate the Fourth of July while supporting organizations that make a real difference locally. We're especially excited to welcome back Josey Jewell this year to help kick off the race." The event is sponsored by Pulpit Rock Brewing Co., Gallagher, Ace Hardware, DECO, LuLu & BB's Pet Market, The Landing Market, Inspire(d) Driftless Magazine, LetterWerks Sign City, Nagle Signs Inc., Kelly Real Estate, Twisted Gnome and Luther College. Race registration is $30. T-shirt and race bib pickup will be available from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 3, and beginning at 7 a.m. July 4. Timing for the 5K will be provided by True Time Racing Services. The 1-mile fun run/walk will not be timed. Participants can register, donate or volunteer through the Pulpit to Pulpit race website.
