Pie, Ice Cream and Maid-Rites on the Menu at Annual Pie & Ice Cream Social

FRANKVILLE, Iowa — The Frankville Presbyterian Women will host its annual Pie & Ice Cream Social on Wednesday, June 24, from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Frankville Community Presbyterian Church. The event serves as the group's only fundraiser of the year, supporting a variety of mission projects, community outreach efforts, and church activities. For $12 per meal, attendees can choose a Maid-Rite sandwich or grilled chicken sandwich, along with potato salad, orange tapioca salad, pie or angel food cake, ice cream, and beverages. Guests may dine in or take meals to go. Organizers note that the church is air-conditioned and handicapped accessible. Members of Frankville Presbyterian Women say the annual social is not only a fundraiser but also an opportunity to bring the community together—while supporting the group's charitable work. The organization, made up of five active members, meets regularly for Bible study and selects a local organization or individual each month to receive a monetary donation. In addition to supporting church ministries at the local, presbytery, synod, and national levels, the group has organized and contributed to numerous service projects over the years. Those efforts have included collecting school supplies, assembling baby layettes and hygiene kits, sewing pillowcase dresses and adult clothing protectors, creating fleece blankets and scarves, making tote bags and fabric kits, and crafting plarn mats and quilted hearts. The group also hosts an area women's coffee, a community Trunk-or-Treat event, and delivers Christmas food baskets to elderly congregation members. Frankville Presbyterian Women have also hosted semiannual gatherings of the John Knox Presbyterian Women, which includes churches from northeast Iowa, southeast Minnesota, and southwest Wisconsin. This summer, members will travel to Storm Lake to attend Synod School at Buena Vista University, where the theme will be "Love In Between." Fresh stories, delivered!
