A Week in the Show Ring: 4-H and FFA County Fair Events Scheduled

DECORAH — 4-H and FFA members will showcase their projects throughout the 2026 Winneshiek County Fair, with livestock competitions running daily from July 12-18 at the Winneshiek County Fairgrounds. The week begins Sunday, July 12, with the dog agility show at 2 p.m. in the Show Barn. Dog obedience, rally and showmanship competitions follow at 8 a.m. Monday, while the annual "Ag Olympics" are scheduled for 4:15 p.m. Tuesday. Wednesday features a full itinerary of livestock events beginning at 8 a.m. with the dairy goat show in the Danan Lansing Building. The Clover Kid Bucket Bottle Calf Show, Bucket Bottle Show for dairy and beef, and dairy show will follow in the Show Barn. The afternoon continues with the Clover Kid Bucket Bottle Sheep/Goat Show at 2:30 p.m., followed by the breeding and market meat goat show and sheep show in the Danan Lansing Building. Thursday's schedule includes the swine show at 8:30 a.m. in the Swine Arena, the horse show at 9 a.m. in the Horse Arena and the poultry show at 3 p.m. in the E.J. Weigle Building. Breeding beef judging begins at 8:30 a.m. Friday in the Show Barn, followed by the market dairy steer, market beef heifer and market beef shows. The rabbit show starts at 3 p.m. in the E.J. Weigle Building. The week will conclude Saturday with the Parade of Champions at 9:30 a.m. in the Show Barn, followed by the annual 4-H/FFA Livestock Auction at 10 a.m. The auction gives community members and businesses an opportunity to support local youth by purchasing animals raised by 4-H and FFA exhibitors. Buyers may process an animal for personal or employee use or choose to resell the animal at the livestock barn.
