Faldet Announces Candidacy for Second Term as Winneshiek County Supervisor

WINNESHIEK COUNTY — Mark Faldet has announced his candidacy for a second term as Winneshiek County supervisor for District 2. "I've called Winneshiek County home my entire life, and I love this place," Faldet said. "I've always believed that maintaining a good home takes attention and thoughtful intention to make it successful. I appreciate the strengths of the past, and my hope is, if reelected, to continue working with the Board of Supervisors in guiding our county into a prosperous and sustainable future." Serving his community has been a focus for Faldet long before he was elected to the Winneshiek County Board of Supervisors in 2023. He has served on the Decorah Tree Board for many years and is a longtime supporter of the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, Soil Conservation District, Friends of the Decorah Public Library, Vesterheim, Porter House Museum and ArtHaus. Faldet was named Volunteer of the Year by the Decorah Chamber of Commerce in 2019 and is registered with Northeast Iowa RSVP, or Retired and Senior Volunteer Program. A graduate of Northeast Iowa Community College and Luther College, Faldet worked in admissions at Luther College until his retirement in 2023. "Throughout my first term, it's been a pleasure to see the board come together on several issues that benefit the county," Faldet said. "Reorganizing our recycling program is one example. By teaming up with a fellow supervisor, we were able to streamline operations, keep more waste out of the landfill, which is good for the environment, and provide better service to the public, all while saving the county money and resources."
