The Decorah Swim Team won the Northeast Iowa Swim Conference Team Meet

The Decorah Swim Team won the Northeast Iowa Swim Conference (NEISC) meet in Manchester on July 8th, with a total of 593 team points scored. Waukon Swim Club came in second, with 538 team points, and Manchester Swim Team rounded out the top three with 470 team points. Decorah had six athletes who won three individual events at the meet: Elizabeth Bucksa won first place in the Female (13-14) 50-yard Freestyle, the 50-yard Butterfly, and 200-yard Individual Medley. Jasper LaFrentz won first place in the Male (9-10) 50-yard Freestyle, 100-yard Freestyle, and 50-yard Backstroke. Rex LaFrentz won first place in the Male (11-12) 50-yard Freestyle, 100-yard Freestyle, and 50-yard Backstroke. Jackson Leuenberger won first place in the Male (11-12) 50-yard Breaststroke, 50-yard Butterfly, and 100-yard Individual Medley. Isabella Sailor won first place in the Female (15 & over) 100-yard Freestyle, 50-yard Butterfly, and 200-yard Individual Medley. Payge Webb won first place in the Female (11-12) 50-yard Freestyle, 100-yard Freestyle, and 50-yard Butterfly. Karlyn Alstad won first place in two individual events, the Female (11-12) 50-yard Breaststroke and the 100-yard Individual Medley. Five Decorach swimmers had single event wins: Rudy Bachelder won first place in the Male (8 & Under) 25-Backstroke Trevyn Bothun won first place in the Male (8 & Under) 25-yard Butterfly. Weston Cote won first place in the Male (13-14) 200yard Individual Medley Lauren Holthaus won first place in the Female (15 & Over) 50-yard Free Lilly Sailor won first place in the Female (11-12) 50-yard Backstroke The Decorah Swim Team also won several relays, including: Female (8 & Under) 100 Free Relay: Blaire Grimes, Tessa Bril, Lillian Underbakke, Vera Zittergruen Female (11-12) 200 Free Relay: Karlyn Alstad, Kylie Cord, Lilly Sailor, Payge Webb Female (13-14) 200 Medley Relay: Liv Anderson, Clair Smedsrud, Elizabeth Bucksa, Molly Kuehner Mixed (9-10) 200 Free Relay: Brandon Bailey, Cashton Vercande, Hans Propson, Jasper LaFrentz Mixed (11-12) 200 Free Relay: Rex LaFrentz, Isaias Mercado, Elsa Propson, Jackson Leuenberger "Overall, I felt that the team did incredible and swam some of the best races of the season! You could tell all of their hard work paid off," said Decorah Swim Team Head Coach Mia Smedsrud. "I think going forward the team is going to continue to grow and improve their skills!" The NEISC is a summer swim team conference that includes nine community-based swim teams in northeast Iowa. Members of the conference include Calmar Area Swim Team, Cresco Swim Team, Decorah Swim Team, Elkader-Strawberrry Point Swim Team, Manchester Swim Team, Monona-Postville Swim Team, Sumner Area Swim Team, Waukon Swim Club, and West Union Swim Team. The end-of-season conference meet location rotates each year. Next summer the meet will be held in West Union.
