Eight Decorah High School Speech Contest entries earn All-State recognition

The Iowa High School Speech Association has recognized eight entries from Decorah High School as among the state's best speech entries for 2021. The All-State nominations were announced late Wednesday afternoon: --Decorah 9th Grade Ensemble Acting, "The Santaland Diaries" performed by Gabriel Hiner, Kathryn Kelly, Libby Phillips, Danielle Rix, Lucas Arndt and Peter Essa. --Decorah One Act Play, "Tracks," performed by Sarah Pedlar, Anna Tallier, Matthew Smith, Rebecca Anderson, Ellen Rooney, Emma Humpal and Dylan Muhlbauer. --Choral Reading, "The Complete History of America, Abridged," performed by Peter Wilson, Luke Walter, Ellen Rooney, Maggie Kane, Leslie Campbell, Julia Alberts, Amanda Kavan, Clara Rooney, Sophia Christman, Michael Njus, Ella Grouws, Drew Chamberlain, Nolan Jacobsen, Lydia Ihde, and Alex Kane. --TV News, "Destination Driftless," performed by Abby Milburn, Britann Mittelle, Amelia Dugger, Samantha Reilly, Karter Einck, Ashley Schneberger, Lydia Ihde, Anna Tallier, Emma Nierengarten, Edwin Holyoake, Neptune Atwell, Max Wilson, Kaia Neal, Annika Franzen, and Drew Berns. --Solo Mime, "Cake Loss," performed by Kendra Bigler. --Group Mime, "Pregnancy Pickle," performed by Sally Laybourn, Amanda Kavan, Rebecca Anderson, Annalise Skrade and Emily Carolan. --Musical Theatre, "A Chorus Line," performed by Ally Bouska, Ella Grouws, Tyler Irwin, Sierra Kruger, Ada Lovelace, Noah Lovelace, Jake Magner, and Haywood Stowe. --Radio Broadcasting, "KOOP Radio," performed by Abby Moen, Katelyn Christensen, Alysa Hanson, Easton Luzum, Luke Walter, Sylvia Sandhorst, and Morgan Moen. Because of COVID-19 restrictions, there will not be in-person or virtual performances this year. Medals, certificates and other All-State materials will be sent to Decorah High School.
